Chamillionaire Retires from Mixtapes

Chamillionaire is closing one chapter of his career and focusing on a new one.
The 29-year-old rapper released a statement on Friday clearing up rumors that he is retiring from making music. “It was definitely not my intention to mislead anyone into thinking that I plan to completely retire from music,” he said of the confusion that started after he did a live broadcast on his website. “I love making music and will continue to do so.”

Jay-Z on Auto-Tune: ‘Let’s Move On’

Jay-Z has killed Auto-Tune and now he’s confessing to the crime.

Hov called into Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 show on Friday after he premiered his new song, “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune).” He addressed the trend that’s been sweeping hip-hop. “Let’s move it forward. The guys who did it, did it great,” he told Flex. “If you listen to T-Pain, he does great melodies. If you listen to Kanye… If you listen to ‘Say You Will’ or ‘[Welcome to] Heartbreak,” they’re great melodies. ‘Lollipop’ was a fantastic melody. Now everybody can’t do it. Let them guys do it. They got their little niche. Now let’s move on.”

The Clipse decided that a narrowly shaped apartment complex in Brooklyn was the proper venue to shoot the video for “Kinda Like a Big Deal” featuring Kanye West, the first single off the Virginia rap duo’s third album Till the Casket Drops. But Hannah and her roommate Z, both third-year college students at Brooklyn College, had no idea the stairwell inches away from their front door would be packed with celebs and video production gadgets, as the ladies prepared for a girls-night-in dinner party. Usher Announces New Album Title

Mariah Carey is not the only one making album announcements. Usher also revealed the title of his new album on Wednesday.
The R&B heartthrob has titled his sixth studio effort Monster. It will be released this fall, according to a statement from his publicist.
Usher has collaborated with Jermaine Dupri and Ne-Yo on Monster, the follow-up to 2008’s platinum-selling Here I Stand.

Eminem Honors Proof at Hometown Show

Eminem paid tribute to his late friend Proof at a free show in his hometown of Detroit on Tuesday night.

Em performed eight songs in a 35-minute set inside the MotorCity Casino Hotel. Among the tracks from Relapse were “3 A.M.,” “Hello/Insane,” “Beautiful,” “Crack a Bottle,” “We Made You,” and “Underground.” For the encore, he brought out members of D12 for “Lose Yourself.” DJ Jazzy Jeff warmed up the crowd.
